I've always modeled myself after Hermione Granger: school has been a big part of my life and always one of my top priorities. I pride myself in my well-rounded and hands-on education at JMU. Here are my favorite classes taken and projects I've worked on!

 relevant coursework

Consumer Behavior

MKTG 385 | Dr. Kelly Naletelich | Fall 2025

What I Did: Conducted a group qualitative research project about the effectiveness of beauty influencer marketing. After learning about qual research during my internship, I was really excited for this project! We interviewed 15 college students, analyzed the results, and developed recommendations for how brands could improve their influencer marketing strategy to better resonate with consumers. Featured to the left is our research paper!

What I Learned:

- How to use thematic analysis to translate interview transcriptions into marketing implications

- Best practices for writing interview questions to get quality responses

Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC)

MKTG 384 | Canessa Collins | Fall 2025

What I Did: Worked on an agency-style team with five peers to complete a comprehensive IMC plan for the Shenandoah Caverns and American Celebration on Parade. Featured to the right are the specific pages of our IMC Plan that I contributed most to.

What I Learned:

How to work on a team with diverse skillsets and backgrounds on a long-term project

- The decisions and issues involved in developing a multi-faceted strategic and creative plan

<- my amazing team!

International Week on Sustainability

UAntwerp | Study Abroad | Spring 2025

What I Did: I was randomly put into a group with five other students from Belgium, Hungary, and Canada, and we completed a three week-long case study about the sustainability of Adventure Specialists, a Dutch tourism company. We specifically researched if their financial compensation policies are truly effective in reducing emissions and promoting sustainability. Featured to the left is our final presentation.

What I Learned:

- How to effectively work in a culturally diverse team. All of us had different work ethics, values, and backgrounds, which made our teamwork challenging at times, but rewarding in the end

- Sustainability in business is about balancing long-term environmental, social, and economic impacts, requiring companies to integrate responsible practices to remain competitive over time

Professional Selling
Dr. Carissa Kim | Fall 2025

I combined classroom learning with practical skills by completing sales role plays with ALKU and RNMKRS! I was very grateful for this chance to improve my communication skills in a business setting with professionals in the field. Also, this class set me up to begin a research assistant position!

Renaissance to Modern Art (Honors)
Prof. Leah Stoddard | Fall 2024

I unexpectedly enjoyed this class so much, mostly because of the roundtable discussions we had about various art pieces. Taking this course before my semester abroad motivated me to visit as many art museums as I could in Europe, allowing me to see masterpieces by artists such as Rubens, Dali, and Monet!

  My Favorite Classes... Ever!
Business Analytics II
Dr. Luis Novoa | Spring 2024

I greatly appreciated the practical application of this course. I got to improve my Excel skills with topics like linear regression, breakeven analysis, and forecasting! I felt very challenged by this class, which was my main motivation to pick up the Business Analytics minor.

Great Works: Post-Apocalyptic Fiction
Prof. James Marafino | Fall 2025

As my last General Education class, I wanted to take a literature topic that I was actually interested in; this one definitely fit the bill. I enjoyed the variety of novels we read, including The Handmaid's Tale and Fahrenheit 451, and the in-class conversations that came out of it. I was glad to get back into reading as well!
