The best team ever!

I supported the Brand Marketing team in the Brand Strategy & Innovation department! Headquartered in Findlay, Ohio, MPC is a Fortune 50 company and leader in integrated energy, operating the largest refining system in the USA, as well as a robust midstream and marketing network.

 How I Spent My Summer

I cannot display deliverables due to privacy reasons, but all summer I worked on three main projects:

1)  I evaluated the brand website for SEO opportunities using GA4. I implemented multiple data-driven site updates.

2)  I analyzed Marathon Rewards marketing performance in Excel. The analysis included email and SMS analytics, POP copy review, and billboard pilot impressions.

3)  I conducted consumer survey research with Suzy to inform long-term brand advertising and sponsorship strategy.

  • Heartland Brand Road Show

In June, I traveled to Cleveland, Ohio for a day to attend the Heartland Brand Road Show. I listened to some members of the team present about industry updates, met some of our customers, and learned about exciting partnerships and program details.

  • Job Shadowing

Throughout the summer, I took advantage of job shadowing opportunities across Ohio. I learned from professionals in asphalt, national accounts, scheduling, and the ARCO brand advertising and Mexico team. I also got to ride along with a Territory Manager and be on-location for a national TV commercial shoot!

  • Symposium Week

All interns in the Commercial department participated in symposium week, which included a case study project, "Intern Olympics" team-bonding activities, and volunteer service in Findlay. It was really fun to work with people from different business units, backgrounds, and across time zones!
